What is Linux?

Linux as a project in Narodna Tehnika, has obligations to introduce the Linux OS, which is a new OS here, to some of our members. Besides this OS, we are learning some of his accessories and softwares like a OppenOfice.org, grafical surroundings Gnome and KDE, the text editor Kate and many others.

This project started in Nvember 2002 with technical support from the organization GGBS and their oficial member for Macedonia, Heinz Spiess. He financed unselfishly and interceded for succesful realisation of this project.

For succesful development of this Linux project, Narodna Tehnika is cooperating with many members of the NGO “Free Softwere – Macedonia” from Skopje. They are also doing a Linux project in Macedonia.

The Linux group in Narodna Tehnika has 10 or more members, but the interest are bigger for this projet.

This project is following the newest progreses in computer tehnology, with great help from the internet and cooperating with other organizations.

As a result of the development of this project in Macedonia, a mecedonian version of package OpenOffice.org is avilable. This package is also available in Narodna Tehnika. With this project, the number of costumers of Linux in Macedonia is expected to be doubled.
